Overview
Kalpanath Rai Institute of Medical Science provides residential accommodation on its Kasara campus to every student admitted to the M.B.B.S. programme. Hostel accommodation is compulsory for all M.B.B.S. students of the Institute. Living on campus keeps students within walking distance of the lecture theatres, the library, the dissection hall and the attached teaching hospital, which matters a great deal during clinical postings and night duties.
Separate blocks are maintained for boys and girls. Every room is allotted on double occupancy, and the hostel fee is inclusive of mess charges for three meals a day — no separate mess bill is raised. The student is free to choose either the Non-AC hostel or the AC hostel.

- Each student is given an individual bed, study table, chair and lockable almirah.
- Attached or common bathrooms with 24-hour running water and solar-assisted hot water in winter.
- Power backup covers the lights, fans and the corridor lighting of both blocks.
- The Girls’ Hostel is a separate, gated block with a resident lady warden and restricted entry.
- Room changes during the academic year are permitted only on the written approval of the Provost.

- The hostel fee is charged per annum and includes mess charges for three meals a day. No separate mess bill is raised and no separate hostel caution money is charged.
- A single one-time refundable security deposit of ₹3,00,000 paid to the Institute at the time of admission covers the college as well as the hostel. It is refunded in full on completion of the course, after clearance of no-dues.
- The hostel fee is payable in full at the time of room allotment. It may be paid in cash at the Accounts Office against a numbered receipt, by NEFT / RTGS / IMPS / UPI to the official Institute account, or by Demand Draft in favour of “Kalpanath Rai Institute of Medical Science” payable at Mau (U.P.).
- Charges are provisional and remain subject to revision by the State Fee Fixation / Regulatory Committee, Government of Uttar Pradesh.
Mess & Dining
The hostel mess is run on the campus and serves three meals a day, seven days a week, plus evening tea. Mess charges are already included in the hostel fee shown above, so a student never receives a separate monthly mess bill.
Rotating North-Indian menu with milk, tea and seasonal fruit. Timed to finish before the first lecture.
Roti, rice, dal, seasonal vegetable, salad and curd. Extended service during clinical postings.
Served in the dining hall; a light snack accompanies tea on all days.
Full meal with a weekly special. Late plates are kept for students on night duty, on prior intimation.
- Pure vegetarian and non-vegetarian counters are run on notified days; the weekly menu is displayed in the dining hall and is settled with the Mess Committee.
- A Mess Committee of student representatives meets the warden every month to review the menu, quality and hygiene. Suggestions and complaints are recorded in the mess register.
- Students on night duty or on examination duty may request a packed meal from the mess in advance.
- Special diets on medical advice are arranged through the warden on production of a prescription.
- Drinking water is supplied through RO purifiers with water coolers on every floor.

How Allotment Works
Complete admission
Report to the Institute with your DGME U.P. allotment letter, complete document verification and pay the admission fee at the Accounts Office.
Fill the allotment form
Download the Hostel Allotment Form below, fill it in BLOCK LETTERS and get the parent’s undertaking signed. Indicate whether you want a Non-AC or an AC room.
Pay the hostel fee
Pay the annual hostel fee for the category you have chosen — in cash at the Accounts Office or by NEFT / RTGS / IMPS / UPI / DD — and collect the numbered receipt.
Submit to the Provost
Submit the completed form with the fee receipt and the attachments to the Office of the Provost (Hostels), along with two passport-size photographs.
Room allotted
The Provost allots the block and room number and records it in the “For Office Use” section of your form. A copy is returned to you.
Move in
Report to the warden with your copy, complete the biometric registration, take charge of the room inventory and move in.
Hostel Rules
- Allotment is personal and non-transferable. A student may not exchange rooms or allow any other person to occupy the allotted bed.
- Allotment is valid for one academic year and is renewed each year on payment of the hostel fee.
- Entry and exit are recorded biometrically. Students must return to the hostel by the notified hour; night-outs require a written application countersigned by the parent and approved by the warden.
- Leaving the station requires prior intimation to the warden in the movement register, with the destination and contact number.
- Visitors are received only in the visitors’ room during notified hours. Entry of visitors into the rooms, and of male visitors into the Girls’ Hostel, is not permitted.
- Ragging in any form is a criminal offence and attracts immediate action — see Anti-Ragging.
- Alcohol, tobacco products, narcotics, weapons, and any inflammable or hazardous article are strictly prohibited in the hostel premises.
- Cooking in the rooms and the use of unauthorised electrical appliances such as heaters and induction plates are not permitted.
- The student is responsible for the room inventory handed over at the time of occupation. The cost of any damage to hostel property will be recovered from the student.
- Silence hours are observed in the blocks and the reading rooms; music and gatherings must not disturb other students.
- Rooms must be kept clean and open to inspection by the warden or the Provost at any reasonable hour.
- Rooms must be vacated within seven days of the last examination of the academic year, unless the student is retained for the internship or has the written permission of the Provost.
- Breach of these rules may lead to a fine, cancellation of the allotment, or disciplinary action under the regulations of the Institute.
Anti-Ragging
KRIMS maintains a zero-tolerance policy on ragging, in accordance with the regulations of the National Medical Commission, the UGC anti-ragging regulations and the orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. Ragging is a criminal offence. An Anti-Ragging Committee and an Anti-Ragging Squad function on the campus, and the hostel blocks are under their watch.
- Every student and every parent must submit the anti-ragging undertaking in the NMC format at the time of admission and at the start of each academic year.
- Anti-ragging squad members make surprise rounds of the hostel blocks, the mess and the common areas, particularly during the first weeks of the session.
- Complaints may be made to the warden, the Provost, any member of the Anti-Ragging Committee, or to the National Anti-Ragging Helpline 1800-180-5522. The identity of the complainant is protected.
- A proven case of ragging attracts suspension or expulsion from the hostel and the Institute, in addition to action under the law.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to stay in the hostel?
Yes. Hostel accommodation is compulsory for every M.B.B.S. student of the Institute. The choice you make is between a Non-AC room and an AC room.
What is the difference between the Non-AC and the AC hostel?
Air-conditioning, and the fee. A Non-AC room costs ₹1,73,250 per annum and an AC room ₹2,02,125 per annum. Everything else — double occupancy, furniture, mess, security, Wi-Fi, power backup — is the same.
Is the mess charge separate?
No. Mess charges for three meals a day are included in the hostel fee. No separate mess bill is raised.
How many students share a room?
Two. All rooms, AC and Non-AC, are allotted on double occupancy.
Is there a separate caution money for the hostel?
No. The single refundable security deposit of ₹3,00,000 paid to the Institute at the time of admission covers the college as well as the hostel.
Can I pay the hostel fee in cash?
Yes. Cash is accepted at the Accounts Office against a numbered receipt. NEFT / RTGS / IMPS, UPI and Demand Draft are also accepted — see How to Pay.
Can I choose my roommate?
You may write a preference in the allotment form and the Provost will try to accommodate it, subject to availability and to the block you belong to.
Do I have to reapply every year?
Allotment is valid for one academic year and is renewed each year on payment of the hostel fee. You will be asked to confirm your room category at the start of the session.
Are boys and girls housed separately?
Yes. The Boys’ Hostel and the Girls’ Hostel are separate gated blocks, each with a resident warden, 24×7 security and biometric entry.
